Many people have difficulty with sleep. Some people have trouble falling asleep, while others have trouble staying asleep. Some people just can’t sleep at all.
Sleep is very important. A restful sleep is vital so the body can repair itself from the ravages of the day.
How a Folic Acid Deficiency Affects Stomach Acid
“A subtle lack of folic acid (a B-group vitamin) prevents the stomach from producing adequate hydrochloric acid; in a severe deficiency, none of this valuable acid can be produced. Without hydrochloric acid, protein digestion cannot occur in the stomach; minerals such as iron and calcium do not dissolve well enough to be absorbed; and the vitamins which are acids are largely destroyed before reaching the blood.
First of all, it is the most plentifully used mineral in the human body, but it has some absorption problems.
- It has to be balanced with magnesium if the body is to use it well.
Symptoms of Dehydration
Dehydration usually begins with thirst and has varying degrees of severity. The severity of the symptom depends on the degree of dehydration. Please note that this applies to babies as well. A restless child who is fretting and has been fed may just be dehydrated.
An inability to sleep eventually leads to reduced production, ability to focus and increased irritability, which doesn’t bode well for relationships at home or in the work place. If it continues long enough, it has a negative effect on health and the more it occurs, the tougher things get.
You can induce almost any mental problem just through deficiencies. Hmmmm?
“Physical health, which is the basis for mental, emotional, and spiritual development, cannot be maintained without adequate nutrition. Sound nutrition stands as a fortress against disease, a fortress whose gates are open and into which all may enter who wish. The strength of this fortress can help protect our citizens and our nation.” (From Adelle Davis’ Let’s Get Well: A Fortress Against Disease, published circa 1965)
It’s not surprising if you’ve been indulging in the delicious stuff that most of us enjoy when we’re celebrating and find yourself somewhat debilitated afterwards, mentally and/or physically.
Reduced energy or mood swings, even a bit depressed and morose or, in the case of the younger generation, too much energy of the wrong kind are all symptoms of eating too much refined sugar and carbohydrates (starches from pastas, breads, cakes/cookies etc that convert to sugar). They burn up the nutrients and can give one a “let-down” feeling.
“Mild deficiencies of vitamin A are so common that you have probably experienced them. A slight deficiency impairs vision.
“A substance containing vitamin A, visual purple, is formed in the eyes; any light reaching the eyes breaks down part of the visual purple, and the products of this purposeful breakdown set up nerve impulses which tell the brain what the eyes see. More visual purple is formed and again destroyed.
“The B vitamins appear to be needed equally by every cell in the body. For example, if a well-fed animal is killed and its tissues are analyzed separately, these vitamins are found to be evenly distributed throughout the tissues. Conversely, when animals are kept on a deficient diet, then killed, and separate tissues are analyzed, each tissue is uniformly deficient.
In helping people with their health and nutrition, I find many – men and women – who complain about losing their hair and was I ever surprised to learn how many people have to color their hair because it’s grey. That includes even youngish people so I thought some data about hair might be a good idea.
